Day In The Life
Confined
Records’ niceguys A Day In The Life are Troy, Ohio’s (where?) premiere
emo outfit. In the few
months they’ve been together, they’ve toured the southeast U.S.,
put out a four song demo that sold 400 copies in two months and release
their debut full-length 9 Reasons To Say Goodbye. Not bad. Visit
their site for pictures, downloads, a message board, news and show
dates.
Breaking
Pangaea
These guys are one step away from superstardom.
I swear it. Shows, MP3s, news, pictures, reviews, a tour diary
of their latest exploits, etc. all about Philadelphia's premiere
emo outfit. These guys write music that is more touching than
any Journey ballad.
Cadillac
Blindside
“Despite the current trend towards whiny,
ultra-poppy, “kid-core-emo,” Cadillac Blindside burry the current
class in a wave of dark, bitter and well crafted lyrics that reach
deeper than the typical subjects of girls and tour.” This is the official site of Fueled By Ramen’s Cadillac Blindside. Catch up on all the gossip, download MP3s, join their mailing
list and peep pictures of this fine looking foursome.
Denovo
This Columbus, Ohio quartet takes angular
post-punk to the next level. Smooth vocals, battering-ram
rhythms, and punchy, blistering guitars that will melt your face
off. Q and not Who? At The Drive What? That's right,
Denovo will rock them right out of your memory. Visit this
site for MP3's, video clips, show dates and much more.
The
Dream is Dead
Indianapolis's The Dream Is Dead, featuring ex-members
of Burn It Down, Harakiri and the Sutek Conspiracy.
The
Drop Science
This San Diego based quintet features ex members
of The Trans Megetti, Sterling Silver, The Passenger Train Proposal,
and Camera Obscura. Onstage the band firmly establishes itself well
ahead of the indie rock pack with their commanding stage presence
and the energy inspired by their expert musicianship.
Duvall
Immaculate pop songs crafted by some of the masterminds behind one of the best,
now-defunct pop bands of the last decade, The Smoking Popes.
Flickerstick
No, VH-1 was not enough! This is your new
favorite band.
Get
Get Go
This duet is spastic, hyper dancy emo violence
from the West Coast. Check out their site for a ton of MP3
downloads and find out when they are coming to destroy your all
ages show space.
Jettison
Red
Indie-pop maestros from Michigan. No one blends Dinosaur Jr., Superchunk, and
GBV-style pop sensibilities better.
JR
Ewing
A site for this European hardcore band with photographs, upcoming show listings,
MP3s, links, news.
Killing
The Messenger
Killing the Messenger has been quite the
name for themselves, rocking in Pittsburgh PA. They just completed recording so we can expect some new material
from them soon! These
guys are great friends of mine from back in the day, so it didn’t
surprise me that their site is branched off a site for their favorite
Burgh’ watering hole. That
is Pittsburgh rock’n for ya!
The
Lack
Obscured vocal sneers and screams struggle amidst
a destructive, terrifying soundscape of scraping guitars, battering
drum beats, screeching keyboards and heavy bass. Columbus, Ohio's
premiere industrial maestros.
Potomac
Accord
Ambitious, personal, evocative piano-driven indie
rock. Experience these guys for yourself.
Pretty
Girls Make Graves
This Seattle quintet are the future of punk rock.
They're equal parts style, sound and emotion.
Radio
Berlin
Post punk new wave band from Vancouver, British Columbia. Features news, a discography,
photos, and more.
Rod
Despite their revolving line-up, this Dayton-bred
punk powerhouse has stayed true to their roots and has still ended
up on top. Check out their site for tour dates, all the latest
news and gossip, a daily tour journal, pictures, MP3s and more.
Scout's
Honor
Joe's
acoustic project. I gotta give him love cause he's my brother,
yo!
Sutek
Conspiracy
After hearing this band you would have thought
that the vikings had settled in Indiana. Brutal Swedish metal
done with a midwest twist. This band rips fo' reals.
Ted
Leo
Political pop crafted by indie’s premier songwriter, and ex-Chisel frontman.
Tegan
And Sara
Cannuck twin sisters who’ve toured with Ryan and Bryan Adams. How awkward!
Official site features a photo gallery, biography, tour dates, merchandise,
audio samples and contact information.
Twelve
Tribes
Who doesn’t like Twelve Tribes? Metal with heart from the heartland. Peep these attractive fellows, upcoming shows, discography,
etc.
The
Assistant
The Assistant is now of the most compelling bands
out there right now. Dueling male and female vocals
explore a pop meets screamo soundscape that is uncomparable.
Discography, lyrics, tour dates, pictures of tours with Forstella
Ford and Penfold.
The
Blood Brothers
I really can't say enough good things about these
sexy, savvy scream songsters. These guys make me wanna quit
taking my hyperactivity disorder medication and spazz out.
The only drawback is that the site hasn't been updated in a while.
You'll get the idea though.
The
Faint
If
you aren’t familiar with the hypnotizing keyboard tantrums and unique,
straight forward lyrics that make Omaha’s The Faint our generations
neo new wave emissaries, you soon will be. Fusing punk urgency with
the gadgetry of technology, they are changing the landscape of the
underground. Their
website is no less dazzling than you’d expect. News, tour dates, a message board, etc. buried in some of
the most spectacular web design I’ve seen.
The
Minus Tide
The
Minus Tide formed in the fall of 2000 after the demise of the popular
Wheeling, WV bands Egress, Killed At Camp and Horns To The Matador.
Proving you can’t keep kids with a penchant for blistering, brutal,
hellacious metal down for good, The Minus Tide plays an explosive,
screamy metal with enough keyboards and samples to turn The Locust’s
heads. Their site features
news, dates, downloadable goodies, etc.
When
Sparks Fly
Perhaps Dayton,
Ohio's hardest working punk outfit. These kids are more prolific
than rabbits when it comes to making catchy music and putting on
all-ages shows. I've got nothing but love for these fine fellows...and
their guest book has more drama than an entire season of Dawson's
Creek. What more can you ask for?
The
Wrens
If you haven’t heard of this east-coast
powerhouse by now, you will be soon. Check them out, before you
check out.
