The wheels are in motion for a new Mastodon album. Band vocalist/guitarist Brent Hinds recently told MTVHive.com that writing for it is already underway and if all goes well, Mastodon could possibly be in the studio as early as January.

In an interview conducted on Thursday in Belgium, Mastodon bassist/vocalist confirmed that the band will indeed be touring North America this spring with Opeth and Ghost, as has been rumored as-of-late. The trek will reportedly kick off in April, with an official announcement expected shortly.
