Struck By Lightning, True Predation
Struck By Lightning, True Predation, Translation Loss
While Columbus, Ohio based guitarist/vocalist Gregory Lahm may be perhaps best known for his tenure with Dayton’s Mouth of the Architect, a churning and atmospheric post-metal powerhouse, he is definitely most dangerous as head growler and axeman for Struck By Lightning. Struck By Lightning’s True Predation (released by Translation Loss April 24), the follow up to 2009’s Serpents, is an unapologetic, teeth-bared, punk, grind and metal stomper sure to conjure comparisons to Motorhead, Disfear and Tragedy – all which are well-deserved. Clocking in at 33 minutes for 10 songs, the quartet is fast, pissed and on a mission. If the refrain of “fuck you forever” from “Mindfucker,” or song titles like “Funereal” and “We Are All Just Rotting Corpses” don’t make it clear enough, the band clearly doesn’t care if they’re adding fuel to the fire or ruining someone’s day. Thankfully, they’ll be making the day of tried-and-true thrashers and headbangers alike.
