This afternoon I called Bob Crawford, the bass player for the Avett Brothers, for what I thought would be a light-hearted conversation about music that I could use to preview their upcoming summer stops in Ohio.  First, let me say that Bob is one of the most humble and gracious performers I’ve ever had the pleasure to interview.  What I didn’t know before calling him is that he is currently living at St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital with his wife, son, and his daughter, Hallie, who is battling a rare form of pediatric brain cancer.
