Coreography Council Assembles Comp, Comic
Akron zine Coreography Council has assembled a big, cheap multimedia stocking stuffer for local-music fans. The Volume Two comp includes a 20-page comic book by Matt Horak (the artist who created artwork for the last two Houseguest records) and three professionally duplicated CDs stuffed with 49 Akron/Kent bands.
“The first CD is mellow stuff,” says editor/compiler Brad Thorla, who plays drums with Sofa King Killer and books bands at Annabell’s. “Second CD is weird. Third CD is heavy. I think there is some really amazing stuff.”
The comp includes new and unreleased tracks from both underground favorites and local A-list acts, including Mr. Gnome, Rachel Roberts, Rue, Sofa King Killer, Hey Mavis, Suede Brothers, Trouble Books, Um … Forcefield? and side projects from members of Houseguest, Drummer, Dolly Trauma and others.
The collection is just $5 at indie record stores Square Records, My Mind’s Eye and Music Saves. To order online, visit MySpace.com/CoreographyCouncil.
