For ten years, Turn Pale(from Bloomington, Indiana) explored the corners of the dancefloor, with a decidely punk asthetic; opting to caress the dark, Rough Trade/Factory sound from the early ’80s post-punk/goth movement. Following the self-released ‘CHANCE’ 7″ in April 2002 on Anderson’s Bluesanct label, their debut full-length, titled ‘KILL THE LIGHTS’, was released in June [...]
Although there are legions of ill-timed, short run bands in the record books, You Indie recently uncovered this and figured we’d share it, because You Indie’s Tim Anderl was in the band. More importantly, a bunch of actual musicians were also in the band, including Matt Thomas of Morning Again and Brother Von Doom, Sara [...]
Waking Kills the Dream was the band of ex-Morning Again vocalist Kevin Byers and12 Tribes guitarist Matt Tackett. During the era captured here, J. Bird, now of Neon Warship, played drums, a couple dudes from Etherea, and Joe Anderl of The 1984 Draft rounded out the lineup. Similarities to Poison the Well, Boy Sets Fire, [...]

The Minus Tide’s talent, songwriting creativity and willingness [...]
In the early ’00s Dayton got a visit from You Indie’s favorite Canadians, Radio Berlin. Multi-instrumentalist Jack Duckworth (now of Soft Riot) was no stranger to Dayton as he visited, and DJed for the Bettawreckonize.com launch party we’d put together at Knights of Columbus just years prior. For those not in the know, The Vancouver [...]
Kent, Ohio’s Party of Helicopters, whom I first encountered in the early ’90s, has long been a favorite, like a top 10 favorite band ever, of mine. Before they called it quits, the band performed at Columbus, Ohio’s More Than Music Fest. This was either shortly before or after they recorded Please Believe It for [...]
This video, uncovered from You Indie archives, seems to be of Rebirth of Tragedy-era Twelve Tribes. Rebirth of Tragedy was two years in the making for the band. It was produced by former Killswitch Engage vocalist Howard Jones, and signaled their debut on Ferret Records. Around this time, the band sold out overseas tour dates [...]
